Another
headlamp upgrade incorporating DRLs has been fitted to his two
MGV8s by Roger Parker. They are powerful UK headlamps set up
solely for DRL function through a switching relay with automatic
disconnection when the sidelamps are on. Roger says "my
camera doesn't reproduce a fair view of the impact of these
lights in daylight conditions and dims them, but they certainly
have increased the visibility of my car. The headlamp light
control that the 'crystal' (segmented) lens behind the clear
front cover has is really quite effective with crisp beam pattern
on the MOT headlamp aim tester".
Headlamp upgrade from Powerful UK
Powerful UK, family run business based near Swindon in Wiltshire,
offer an ARV6 style Headlamp Conversion kit to
upgrade the headlights of Morgan Plus 4 or Plus 8 to these new
ARV6 LED DRL style DRL headlights. The say "these headlights
are the latest evolution of the round 7" headlight to hit
the market. As all new cars need to have DRLs fitted, it is
becoming a popular upgrade on older cars. These headlights have
been specially made for us here at PowerfulUK and have a Right
Hand Drive beam pattern that will pass a UK MOT. Even if the
LED is not your thing these lights have a superb light output
on dip and main beam thanks to the beam pattern being set by
the reflector not by the lens (as on standard headlights). The
lens is smooth giving a cleaner sharper appearance to the lights.
These lights give up to 25% more light output than standard
headlights even using the same bulb!
All new cars use this new technology for the headlights and
this is one major reason modern cars have much better lights.
In addition to the better technology the reflectors on these
lights are made from plastic and so will not rust or corrode
like the older metal ones. The lens is made from a scratch resistant
plastic. These lights use Halogen H4 bulbs which you should
have in your old lights unless you still have sealed beam units
fitted. These lights are not E Marked but are RHD MOT passing
lights. This listing is for a pair of headlights complete
with LED side lights and rubber caps for the bulb but note no
main H4 headlight bulbs are included. We have run these lights
with 90/100W H4 bulbs with no problems. These lights will fit
into Lucas metal bowls and also Lucas and Wipac plastic bowls.
You can link the LED power wires to the sidelight wire or link
to an ignition source of you want them to come on with the ignition".
