Brief V8 Register report for 2011
As we roll into 2011, how are we doing in terms of providing useful and topical information together with good quality support and services for MGV8 enthusiasts? This end of year review highlights the key points:

V8 website has seen the introduction of the distinctive NEWS webpages with topical information and news items - for example the recent series on winter tyres and the confusion over some insurers' responses to customers' queries on the insurance implications of their fitting winter tyres in the UK. We obtained an early clarification from the Ecclesiastical and the classic car insurance broker, Peter Best Insurance Services, as reassurance for members. During 2010 there have been 211 NEWS webpages - over four a week - forming a major part of the 573 new webpages uploaded to the V8 website in 2010, around 11 a week. That compares with 559 in 2009, so the level of activity is slightly up.

V8 Bulletin Board has had 411 threads in 2010, an average of 34 a month, some with one or two postings on each thread but others with many more. The V8BB continues to attract good quality contributions and advice from fellow members. Members' feedback indicates it is clearly one of the most useful and attractive V8 website features which members log on to regularly. Occasionally the V8BB website has been slow causing a little frustration for some members trying to post messages, so refurbishing the V8BB is a project planned for 2011. V8BB

Two workshop notes series. Fellow members contributed 26 new notes in 2010 - seven V8NOTES and nineteen RV8NOTES. So a quieter year than 2009 when we had 40 new notes, but the overall total of these useful service and maintenance tips is now an astonishing 753 in 21 volumes. That underlines the focus the V8 Register has had for over 30 years on providing members with good technical support services. V8NOTES & RV8NOTES

Total registrations of MGV8s are now 3,674 with 202 new additions in 2010 compared with 172 in 2009, up 12%. We estimate the new V8 members joining the Club are between 8% and 10% of the total new Club members in 2010. Around 18% of registered members (some 16% of MGBV8s and 32% of RV8s) are outside the UK, so the "open to view" policy with no password access for both the V8 website and V8BB has provided a welcome feature for all V8 enthusiasts and an opportunity for their participation in V8 Register online activities. Many overseas members are subscription paying members of the home Club. Welcoming new members webpage

MGV8s for sale webpages have been very active in 2010 with some 48 cars advertised for sale over the year. It has become the leading place to advertise an MGV8 for sale and a popular online resource for enthusiasts wanting to get an MGV8 - the MGV8s wanted adverts have been popular too.
