Report
for the online V8 AGM 2020 from the organiser of the V8 Kent Tour
2020
V8 Kent Tour 2020 announcement and update on 5th July 2020
Ian Quarrington reports he has sought the views of members who
have booked for the tour as to whether they feel it should go ahead
or be postponed to 2021. He found from the responses that the whole
group have agreed to postpone to 2021. His email circulated on 5th
July 2020 to Members who had booked for the V8 Kent Tour 2020 said:
In the last few days I have tried to telephone each and everyone
of you regarding the tour, and I was mostly successful in managing
to talk to everyone. My apologies if we did not speak, but I did
try!!
95% of
you replied to my earlier email about whether the V8 Tour should
go ahead this year or be postponed to 2021 and 100% of those who
replied to my email would like to go to Kent in the Autumn of next
year.
Therefore
I have been in touch with the main hotel, Little Silver, and also
with the two main venues we plan to visit and the new dates
for the V8 Kent Tour are Monday 13th to Friday 17th September
2021. If you need to alter your arrival or departure date by
one day either way then Little Silver have said they have no problem
with this at all.
Please
can you all make a note in your diaries or on your wall charts or
on your electronic devices of these dates.
Charli
and Russell from Little Silver will be writing to you to confirm
the date changes and also reassure you that the rooms will remain
as you have booked them and the room rates will remain the same
prices that were agreed for this year.
If you
are booked into other accommodation, including the London Beach
Hotel, can you please make your own arrangements to alter your bookings
from this year to 2021. I have, on behalf of one of our European
friends, tried to call London Beach in the last days but there was
only an answer phone message which indicates they must be busy preparing
to re open for the rest of this year. If you have difficulty in
getting hold of London Beach, please let me know and I will do my
best to help.
I do feel
we have taken the only sensible decision: it wouldn't be a V8 Tour
if we couldn't be together and enjoy the huge social aspect of the
week let alone any activities we have planned and I would like to
take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to you all for your understanding
and your support in these difficult times.
I will
be on touch with you all again this Autumn as venues come back to
me with dates for us to visit them next year.

V8 Kent Tour 2020 report on 18th June 2020
Ian Quarrington reports that because of the Covid-19 concerns
the tour is under review and he is contacting all Members who have
booked to join the tour seeking their views on whether to go ahead
with the tour in late September or postpone it to 2021. A final
decision will be made by 1st August 2020. The tour hotel has agreed
that if we need to cancel this year then they will retain all the
booking details and hold their agreed prices for the same week in
2021. This report will be updated when a decision has been made.
