Photos can be sent to the V8 Scribe as attachments to emails (in jpeg format

Columns
The V8 Register has a
monthly column in Safety
Fast! which is limited to a half page. There is generally
only room for brief reports of recent and forthcoming events together with a photo
together with a couple of paragraphs which can cover one or two short articles,
or a workshop note. All contributions for the monthly columns will be very welcome
from V8 Register members. What
are the copy dates for the monthly V8 Columns?

Contributions
for the periodic newsletters will be very welcome from V8 Register members.

Contributions
from members are very welcome. What are the guidelines for content
and size?
Content -
reports of V8 events, book reviews, practical tips for members on spares or maintenance
matters, and news of RV8s at auction. Examples of material sent in by members
over the last twelve months have included a note from Peter Kilmister of an excellent
replacement tyre service at Micheldever Tyres in Hampshire, a tip from Gavin Bailey
on a cause of carburettor difficulties with an MGBGTV8, reports of the V8 Curry
Night at Beaconsfield and the Sunday lunchtime V8 Gatherings at the Shoulder of
Mutton on Hazeley Heath in Hampshire, full reports on the V8 25th Anniversary
events in 2003, the report on the V8 Cornish Tour, and news of the replacement
RV8 front springs from Gavin Brown in Tasmania. Size
(monthly V8 Column) - as there is only a half page, space is tight and it
is necessary to prepare articles and reports with a one or two paragraph limit.
The editor of Safety Fast! recommends a 750 word limit less 200 words for
each photo used. Size
(V8 Newsletters) - reports and articles can be a little longer, particularly
for the feature articles and event reports. Book reviews should be 750 words maximum. What
format do you want the material in? The V8 Scribe is happy to take
contributions by email, email attachment in Word format, or as typed or handwritten
copy by mail or fax. If you would like a page template in Word format you can
download a copy using the link opposite. The template is set up in double column
format with suitable margins and a small font to replicate a page in Safety
Fast! so |
using
the template will give contributors a very good idea of how there report or article
will fit on a page or half page in the Club magazine.
Style The V8 Scribe aims to achieve columns and newsletters which
are interesting, clear and pithy, and where possible topical. Using the well proven
technique of including the subject of the paragraph in the first half of the first
sentence, helps to make the material interesting, easier to read and avoids rambling
preambles to paragraphs. The key words at the start of each paragraph can be highlighted
with a bold font. Please avoid rogue apostrophies - for example RV8's when
you mean a number of RV8s! Where
do I send any news items or my contribution
for the V8 Column or V8 Newsletter?
