Changing the small bulb in the RV8 dashboard boot release switch
During the discussion of how to solve a faulty luggage compartment lamp switch in the boot lock, Godfrey Dennis also checked the tell-tale light in the dashboard switch which opens the boot. Here he describes how he tracked down a source of the small replacement bulbs and fitted one to his switch. (Aug 12)

There are actually two tiny bulbs in this switch and the bulb and I have attached some photos of the diode bulbs in their holders, removed from the switch. The bulb can be removed from its holder by careful use of
a pair of tweezers, and replacement is self explanatory.

The specialist bulb company for classic cars listed in the V8LIFELINE - Albert Brock Classic Bulbs - do not stock these small diode bulbs, but I have found that high street and online electronics shop Maplin does. The part or catalogue number at Maplin is BT43W and they each cost about £1.30. See: www.maplin.co.uk/wire-terminal-type-1955
