Kevin Horsey reports that "the V8 sold through the V8 website - I had only two enquiries, but both were quality and not timewasters, and I got almost the asking price from the first enquiry". So the car sold in just under a month on the V8 Website demonstrating that good quality, well priced MGBGTV8s sell well on the V8 Website. (22.7.06)

Engine - rebuilt about 12,000 miles ago by Beer of Houghton with a new 3.9 block, balanced, big valve heads, sports cam, rhodes lifters, stainless steel headers, lightened flywheel and clutch etc. Produced circa 220bhp at the rear wheels when on the rolling road a couple of years ago. Engine bay is immaculate. A deep radiator has been fitted to aid cooling, and the engine retains the original (overhauled) AC Delco alternator.

Suspension - front end with lowered springs, uprated shocks, bigger anti-roll bar and negative camber wishbones. The rear end has adjustable telescopic dampers, giving very neutral handling characteristics. The car is shod with 195/65 Bridgestones, which are no more than a quarter worn. The original spec V8 wheels are in very good condition.

Body - all original virtually rust free metalwork, annually waxoyled since 1987 when it had only covered 1,500 miles. This car has never had to be restored, nor has it ever been hacked about. I've even avoided drilling a hole for the radio, preferring instead to use an internal aerial. The only non-original item of bodywork is the front spoiler which keeps the nose down at high speeds, and directs more air through the radiator.

Interior - navy in colour and all original and in very good condition. The original rubber floor mats are still in place and almost unmarked. The driver's seat had new cushions fitted last year. The only criticism that I would make of the interior is that the original navy carpets are getting a little faded now. Leather Motolita steering wheel.

Other Items - stainless steel petrol tank and big bore stainless exhaust. Braided front brake hoses. In 2005, new clutch and brake master
cylinders were fitted, together with a new clutch slave cylinder, and the

is a 1973 chrome bumper car in excellent original condition both inside and out, and has had only two previous owners. The previous owner bought it in 1987 when it had covered only 1,500 miles, and immediately had it waxoyled by Beer of Houghton, the MGBV8 specialists. I bought the car in 1990, have waxoyled it every year since, and used it mainly in dry conditions. It has always been garaged and consequently has virtually no rust and all original metalwork. About 12,000 miles ago (in 2000), Beer of Houghton rebuilt the gearbox, fitted a new 3.9 high spec engine, and re-sprayed the car below the waistline to remove the inevitable stone chips. Recent work includes new brake and clutch master cylinders, clutch slave cylinder, overhauled brake servo, and new 6v batteries. The car has an MOT to June 2007, is very reliable, and great fun to drive as the handling has been well sorted and the new 3.9 engine produces a huge amount of power. The reason for sale is that I've recently bought another classic, and now don't use the car enough to justify keeping it. Price £8,250 ono. (23.6.06)

original, correct diameter brake servo was completely overhauled. The engine was also removed to replace the clutch thrust bearing and yoke which had failed, and the opportunity was taken to clean up the engine bay. New 6v batteries were also fitted last year.

Spares - the car comes with my spares from over 25 years of MGB and V8 ownership, including the original air filter boxes that have been removed, a spare V8 starter, and a spare alternator. There is also a spare rear bumper if the towbar is to be removed.
