Damask Red
0266, early 1973 Factory chrome bumper example. In very
good overall condition, owned by myself for two years covering
only 900 miles, always garaged. Webasto and Spax. Previous owner
held car for 18 years. Almost all MOTs since 1979. Engine overhauled
in 2004 by previous owner. Price £5,950. (14.7.07)
MGBGTV8 wanted
A great condition chrome MGBGTV8 wanted, either Factory original
or well sorted conversion. The vehicle must come with history,
be totally in order with a tidy interior and be very usable
for continental trips, etc. (13.3.07)
Regency Red 0548 (1973) was originally produced in Teal
Blue but the body shell was subject to a major professional
restoration in 1995. I bought the car in September 2004 knowing
that both doors, both sills, one rear wing, and part of the
floorpan needed work, and the paintwork was a bit faded. After
professional repair, the vehicle was subjected to a full respray
(including the engine compartment) in June 2005. I have the
receipts. The reason for sale - I just have too many MGs, including
another factory V8 and a 1955 TF1500. Price is £6,500

Sales
of MGBGTV8s on the V8 website have been brisk over the last
six months
This is a sure sign the V8 website is the leading place to advertise
or find a good looking V8 at sensible prices. Damask Red coloured
V8s seem very popular at present but there are another five
for sale on the V8 website! Prices range from £4,750 to
£10,000. Typically chrome bumper V8s go for around £4,500
to £7,500 for a good example and up to £10,000 for
an exceptional car. Rubber bumper V8s often represent very good
value as they tend to attract slightly lower prices although
in many ways unjustified. The quality of the car, particularly
the bodywork, should be the main concern of anyone seeking a
classic car like the MGBGTV8 as bodywork repairs can be so costly.

Recent sales activity on the V8 website
Alan Hunt advertised Damask 0266 recently and reported
it had sold in barely four days! He added "the chap
saw it on the website I believe and came to see it from Dorset
about 3 hours drive away. He had been looking for a while and
he said most were in poor shape and relatively high priced.
He thought mine was very good, though not in perfect condition,
with a long history file (MOTs going back to 1979) and was value
for money. He did not haggle and agreed my asking price. The
same evening I had another call from someone else, so I guess
the V8 is quite sought after". (18.7.07)
Alastair Harrison placed a V8 wanted advert on 13th March
2007 and in less than a week he said "I am pleased to
report that five calls of V8s available or imminently available
have been made and I have looked at two. I struck on the latter
which was exactly what I had in mind when posting the advertisement;
a Factory MGBGTV8 in beautiful order, Aconite 0736 from Dave
Hall. He is sad to be parting with her and I am delighted she
will be joining us in East Grinstead. I look forward to keeping
in touch and to receiving the V8 notes". (15.307)
Barrie Jones advertised Regency Red 0548, a colour very
close to the Factory colour of Damask Red, in late February
2007 and within three weeks reported it had been sold. For a
classic sportscar offered for sale in Cornwall in February,
that was a rapid sale by any measure! (13.3.07) |
