Lancasters at the Goodwood Revival

It was a sight to stir the soul when two Lancasters flew over Goodwood aerodrome on Friday - the sound of eight Merlin engines - in fact eleven if you add the fighter escorts - was sheer music. It's a sight that is unlikely to be seen there again but the pair have a few more displays before the Canadian Lancaster heads back across the Atlantic for home in a month or so.

The commentary on the display reported that fortunately the recent engine failure on the Canadian Lancaster had been solved by fitting a Rolls Royce Merlin from the BBMF stores but as the Canadian Lancaster had Packarge Merlins, all the ancilliaries had to be changed too. Photo
