The website says "Registration No: TYN 876M, Chassis No:
GB75D000175P, Recorded Mileage: 17,000 miles."
After two introductory paragraphs the listing says "The
52nd car off the factory production run in 1973, this super
chrome-bumpered V8GT was registered to its first owner in August
of 1973, finished in a very period shade of Bracken with
a matching velour interior.
In the intervening years we understand the MG has covered an
incredible 17,000 miles from new with just four owners.
Now part of a large classic car collection, the MG has been
carefully stored and used very lightly. The paintwork presents
very well with only very slight blemishes, the engine bay is
complete and correct and in very clean order. The interior
is completely original and excellent, fitted with a period-correct
radio-cassette player.
These hugely
enjoyable small GT cars sound fantastic, and go just as well.
We are sure this will be an enjoyable and rewarding classic
for the next owner to cherish. The MG is offered with older
MOT certificates, blue log book and original handbook."

Review
of this MGBGTV8
Clearly a car with only 17,000 recorded miles and "carefully
stored and used very lightly" should be in an exceptional
original condition. But when we look at this car some interesting
features can be seen:
> No V8 badging on the nearside front wing and none
on the tailgate. This often suggest a respray has been carried
out at some stage.
> Colour of the bodywork is recorded in the MG production
records as Bronze Yellow and not Bracken as mentioned in the
listing.
> Sticker on rear window says "59 Classic - classic
car sale & restoration specialists".
> Replacement chrome grille surround looks as if it
has replaced the original part.
> Nearside door fit is poor and also offside too.
> Seats not correct cloth covered set - surely a 17,000
mile car would not need replacement seats if stored correctly.
> Door striker plates look very shiny and possibly
new.
> Replacement hydraulic fluid reservoirs in the engine
bay and immaculate aircleaner boxes.
> HRW leads hanging down by the top of the rear window.
> Dunlop composite wheels look to be in good condition.
A very close inspection of this car will be essential to see
if the condition and originality match the very low mileage. |
