MGBGTV8 appears for sale again, again and again

Andy Goves has spotted a recommissioned Factory MGBGTV8 offered for sale yet again described as "probably one of the best you will ever find" although it has some features some potential buyers would not expect to see on a car priced originally priced at £29,995 close to the Exceptional condition level, although now reduced to £26,500. It has the dreaded chrome overcills for example. Andy feels he has seen this car advertised many times before.

Has any fellow V8 Register member visited the seller and inspected this car and the supporting documentation?

£26,500 - Factory chrome bumper MGBGTV8 - private seller - seen 29th March 2018
Current advert says "a"1974 MGBGTV8 Factory built car with chassis number GD2D1343G with 63,434 original miles. Probably one of the best examples you will ever find in excellent condition throughout having had only one previous keeper and then going to his son as after his death. It has now been sympathetically recommissioned and returned to the road after many years of dry storage with as many original Factory parts as possible and retains all the original panels it left the Factory with, excellent interior trim and running gear. The underside is completely as it left the factory having never needed any welding. Viewing is essential to fully appreciate the originality, it is a stunning example. As part of the recommissioning over the last 2 years it has benefited from the replacement of the following new items:
Alloy wheels and Firestone tyres, stainless steel exhaust, fuel tank, tank sender unit, SU fuel pump, front brake callipers, brake discs, brake pads, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, hoses, brake lines, handbrake cables, clutch master and slave cylinders, kingpins, stub axles, steering rack gaiters, track rod ends, telescopic rear shock absorbers, camshaft and followers, high pressure high flow oil pump, high flow radiator, ignition coil, HT leads, door cards and seat covers all rubber sealing strips and weather strips. Earlier adverts said "sympathetically recommissioned with replacement of many items after a long dry storage. Probably one of the best you will ever find." Our Pricewatch team has seen this car advertised for sale many times before including:
£26,500 on 16th April 2018
£26,500 on 29th March 2018
£29,995 on 26th December 2017
£29,995 on 17th November 2017
£29,995 on 17th August 2017
So the price has been reduced by £4,495 or 11.7%.

On examining the photos with the advert for "one of the best you will ever find in excellent condition" there are some interesting non original features:
> Respray in Green, originally Harvest Gold.
> Front spoiler in Green.
> Alloy (Minilite type) wheels, no mention of originals.
> Chrome overcills which always raise rust concerns.
> No V8 badging on tailgate or NS front wing.
> V8 badge on front grille is on the wrong side.

At £29,995 the price seemed excessive and even at £26,500 that price compares with our Price Guide (November 2017) figure for an Exceptional condition Factory MGBGTV8 of £30,275 and a Condition 1 example at £20,590. So at £26,500 it's currently priced at Condition 1 plus 61% of the price step to Exceptional.
