How
do you price an MGBGTV8 rebuild? Two
rebuild adverts are currently seen online and are listed on the MGBGTV8 Pricewatch
webpage based on reports from our two volunteers, Andy Goves and Keith Belcher.
One question the adverts do raise is how do you price an MGBGTV8 offered as a
rebuild project? These two examples are quite different in many respects.
The
Damask V8 on a spit looks as if it is well into a good rebuild but the
advert says it is "complete with all parts with a couple of key parts are
missing (front wings and doors)". The advertiser notes the internal trim
items require replacement. The Harvest Gold V8 is a part dismantled example
which has been in long term storage. With our price guide
for a Condition 1 V8 at £21,330 (last updated in May 2017), the pricing
alongside leaves £9,335 and £12,580 to complete the restorations to
that condition class. The advertiser of the Damask car notes the price of a Heritage
shell too.

- MGBGTV8 rebuild project - private sale, readvertised Readvertised saying
"body requires no welding, all floors, sills & castle rails have been
professionally replaced. Front wings and doors are missing so not included. Car
is complete with all parts - engine, manual gearbox, axle and diff, front cross
member and suspension, dashboard, dials etc all requiring restoration but complete.
Interior and other perishable items are present but require replacement. Currently
Heritage genuine c/b v8 shells are £12.645 plus VAT - more than I am asking
for the complete genuine car." Advertiser says he is "getting many offers,
but please view car before making offers" which suggests low chancer bids.
