Caution - online transaction spam email
If you receive the email alongside or one like it, we have been advised by WorldPay (the provider of the online payment service for the V8 Shop) that it is a spam email pretending to be from their support team and that you should ignore the content of the message and delete the email from your email inbox as soon as possible. WorldPay also strongly advise you should not open any attachment sent with the spam email as it may be infected.

The text of the spam email is reproduced alongside with the typos in the original.

Incidentally the V8 Webmaster also received an email with the same text from "Dave Gollick" claiming to be from the PayPal support team, so quite clearly this is the latest spam trick this miserable form of low life is pushing at present. So please take note and beware.

My thanks to Ian Wingfield and Mike Russell for highlighting this problem. The advice from WorldPay (part of the RBS Group) comes from their traders' helpline and a personal call from the helpful chap at WorldPay who looks after our account.

My name is Dave and I am from the Support of WorldPay.

We have received the payment order (ID 0220712,Receipt Date 09/07/2006) from you and we need to make a verification of the details you have filled in, as we have received a notice from your cardservice stating that there was a chargeback made by the owner of the card with which you have madethe payment and that your level of authorization has been altered during your last transaction.

This is a very serious matter. We have deducted the amount of the chargeback, GBP 149.89, fromyour account and added our standard fee of GBP 24.00 as well (you can see your payment details inthe attachment).

We have failed to contact you using the telephone number you have provided earlier, meeting no response.

As a precaution, we have limited access to your account in order to protect against future unauthorized transactions. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your personal information.

Please contact your credit card company to resolve this matter.

Best Regards,
Dave Gollick
