June 2007 - how popular is the V8 website?
The end of month 30 day hit count (blue) has continued to rise for a second month with the moving average (red) moving up too. The trend line (green) for 28 month period from March 2005 to June 2007 has started to turn up from the flat line seen in March 2007. (1.7.07)

The end of month 30 day hit chart from August 2003

Daily hits over the 30 days to the end of June 2007

The average daily hit rate was 246. The highest rate of 327 was on Monday 18th June, so it is likely that during the peak periods from noon to 2.00pm and from 8.00 to 10.00pm the V8 website had around 20 hits an hour, or one every 3 minutes.

Distribution of daily hits

Mondays and Tuesdays are the most popular days for visitors to the V8 website but the other weekdays are not far behind. The hit rate at weekends is about two thirds of the weekday rate.

The distribution of hits over the day shows a jump from around 8.00am (UK time), then almost constant until lunchtime with a jump from noon to 2.00pm. A slight surge around 5.00pm to 6.00pm is followed by a jump from 8.00pm through to 11.00pm.

Distribution of hits over a typical 24 hours (UK time)

Total hits on the V8 Website includes multiple hits in any day from the same visitors. The multiple hits are removed from the hit count data reported in the two charts at the top of this webpage - that net figure is called the "total unique hits". For June 2007 the total hit count was 27,850 in the 30 day period compared with a total unique hit count of 7,370.
Growth of total hits on the V8 website is significant
Whilst the V8 Website unique hits (reported in the charts above) have only increased by 6.29% over the 10 months to June 2007 the total hits on the V8 Website have increased by 31%. That suggests many visitors are making an increasing number of multiple visits each day.
So the V8 Website unique hits figure I have been reporting appears to understate the real level of interest in the V8 Website reflected by the total visits figure in the chart alongside.
