V8
website was launched in May 2002
Michael O'Brien with Woodcote Green 1275 in Australia came up with
the correct answer in just over four hours! His email to the V8 webmaster
explained how he had responded so quickly - in addition to having
the time advantage!
As
you know I use the V8BB on a regular basis, together with many
others. I follow your advice on the use of the search facility,
and it was the search engine on the main V8 Register website
that found the article that I quoted from Safety Fast. Perhaps
more of us should accept this advice - it pays!
In fact, using your search facility only two weeks ago I found
many references to the stepper motor, and one from John Hornabrook
with whom we now contact each other via email. John quoted the
Rover part number which I was able to use and then purchased
the motor at a local dealer that day.
I trust all of us who use this website appreciate just what
a fantastic resource it truly is. You must be congratulated;
it has also provided me with many contacts in the UK. Terry
Starkey and Stuart Middlemiss have made me an honorary member
of the Norwich Burblers! But, from down under I have also met
David Sutcliffe who actually lives close by, and we got together
at the Melbourne MGCC Concours last week end. I have even taken
my RV8 to Gavin Brown in Tasmania, and have received great advice
and service.
Peter Steyn from South Africa is a regular correspondent, and
it was with his help that I finally acquired my RV8 hardtop!
All of this networking from just one member. Just imagine what
has really been created for all of us. I would not have found
my hardtop without the networking provided by this website.
In the photo you can just make out Terry Starkey's replacement
gear knob.
I will look forward to attending an MG event in the UK sometime
in the future.

Well done with that spot. I have the prize - a small 5 cl bottle of
10 year Talisker single malt waiting to be mailed to you in a jiffy
bag. Michael responded "I will look forward to toasting the special
5th anniversary at the end of May, with the Talisker, over some ice".

When
did we launch the V8 website?
I thought we might have some amusement if I run a modest
competition to see if anyone can recall when the V8 website
was launched and when a significant anniversary is due?
There will be a very modest but nonetheless worthwhile prize
of a miniature bottle of malt for the first correct answer.

When did we launch the V8 website?
P.S. This
would make the small but significant anniversary coming
up the fifth.
