Members'
Track Days - an opportunity to enjoy your V8 on the track!
For many V8 enthusiasts
the opportunity to get on the track at Silverstone with their MGV8
is a particular attraction and this proved to be the case for the
popular V8 Track Laps session at Silverstone 2003! Over thirty V8s
assembled and were released for a spirited session without incident.
As the session proved a welcome part of the V8 25th Anniversary
2003 programme of events, we are planning more sessions in 2004.

What
is MGs on Track?
Following the successful Track Day organised by the MG Car Club at
Silverstone in 2003, a new group of active track day drivers has been
formally made a branch of the Club. There are clearly synergies as
the Club's motor racing organisation is recognised as running some
of the best club motor sport events in the UK. The Club's competition
department has both good contacts with circuit owners and a wealth
of knowledge and experience of the all-important matters like motor
sport event approvals and management, safety requirements and procedures,
and the necessary insurance matters.
Members' Track Days are growing in popularity
With increasing road congestion and the rash of speed cameras around
the country, many MG enthusiasts are keen to attend a well organised
event which enables them to enjoy driving their car at speed in relative
safety on a circuit. The track days organised by MGOT have an emphasis
on safety and in most cases you are amongst fellow MG enthusiasts
and Club members. The Club's first track day in 2003 passed without
incident and the participants clearly enjoyed their day a great deal.
