V8 Website Performance

Hit count passes 4,000 hits/month
In the early hours of New Years Eve the monthly hit count broke through the 4,000 level. The chart below covers the period from January 2003 to December 2004 and shows the clear trend of increasing monthly hits over the last two years, finally reaching 4,131 in December 2004.

The green line is the trend line, the red the moving average, and the blue the monthly hits.

The daily hits during December 2004 show the variance day by day. Inevitably there was a reduction on 25th and 26th December as members were understandably engaged in other festive activities!

V8 Webmaster

V8 Website - a popular information source for V8 enthusiasts
The pattern of hits on a typical daily and hourly basis is interesting - see the reports below generated by thecounter.com who monitor the hits on the V8 Website.

Hits by day

Mondays and Tuesdays are clearly marginally more popular and Friday less so as members tend to be engaged on other activities in the evening.

Hits by the hour

Lunchtime (UK time) is the peak time for members hitting the V8 Website - about 12% of daily hits are over that two hour period - with a slight surge in the late afternoon (10%) - presumably when members are seeking a little light relief over a cup of tea or coffee - and then a similar hourly hit rate from 8.00pm to 11.00pm (16%). The peak hit rate at lunchtime is around one hit every 7 minutes or so. Note: the times in the table above are UK time.

V8 Website is popular with overseas V8 enthusiasts
From the hit reports the V8 Webmaster can see many website hits are from members in Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

V8 Bulletin Board
The V8 Bulletin Board is an additional part of the V8 Website which enables members to post messages and responses to technical queries or technical tips. With 565 postings in the eight months since the new V8BB was launched in May 2004 - or an average of 2.33 postings a day - it has been an active site which has achieved our aim of quality with an emphasis on accuracy rather than quantity. It has developed a distinctive quality which is welcomed by members, and has avoided assuming a high volume "chat box" style which can be found elsewhere.
