Peter says "many years ago I gave an undertaking that we would always endeavour to provide our lowest rates to MG Car Club members for their classic car policies and 20 years or so later we still adhere to this."

we obtained for an MGBGTV8? When you review the table of comparative quotes you will see the PBIS quote had a claims excess amount of only £50 (compared with £100 for all other quotes) and no windscreen glass excess amount (compared with £50 to £70 for other quotes). PBIS advise that removing their lower £50 excess is worth a £20 premium reduction. In fact they do reduce individual premiums when necessary but then match the competitive (higher) excess if that is what the client wants. But Peter feels that detracts from the quality and scope of the cover, so he does not offer that as standard - only where the premium cost is an overriding consideration for the client. So in the table of comparative quotes, if you increase the excess to £100 then the PBIS quote would have been £122.27 overall, which is well in the hunt for rates for MGBGTV8 cover.
