Single
Vehicle Vehicle Approval (SVA) scheme
The
SVA scheme is a pre-registration inspection for cars and light goods
vehicles that have not been type approved to British or European
standards. The main purpose of the scheme is to ensure that these
vehicles have been designed and constructed to suitable safety standards
before they can be used on public roads. Full details at Directgov

Registering
a rebuilt car or conversion
If you are rebuilding a vehicle, or building a vehicle from a kit
or kit conversion, it will need to meet certain criteria before
the vehicle can be registered. The Driver and Vehicle Licensing
Agency (DVLA) local office will assign the original or an appropriate
registration mark on the evidence provided. You can see full details
on the Directgov
website
Components inspected during a SVA
Most of the items inspected in the Single Vehicle Approval (SVA)
scheme are those that are tested when manufacturers apply for type-approval
of mass-produced vehicles. You
