SPECIFICATION
ENGINE: Eight cylinder, 90° "V" configuration, o.h.v.
Five bearing, counterbalanced crankshaft, bore 3.5 in (88.9 mm). Stroke
2.8 in (71.12 mm). Capacity 3,528cc (215.4 cu in), 137 bhp at 5,000
rev/min. Maximum torque 193 lbf. ft at 2,900 rev/min. Compression
ratio 8.25:1. Full-flow oil filtration with renewable element. Oil
cooler. Pressurised cooling system with two thermostatically controlled,
electrically driven fans.
FUEL SYSTEM: a Twin SU type HIF6 carburettors, SU electric
fuel pump. Tank capacity 12 gallons (54.6 litres).
CLUTCH: Diaphragm spring 9½ in (0.24 m) diameter.
GEARBOX: Four speed all synchromesh. Central remote controlled
gear change lever. Ratios: first 3.138, second 1.974, third 1.259,
fourth 1.000, and reverse 2.819:1.
OVERDRIVE: Electrically controlled from switch on steering
column. Ratio in top gear 0.82:1.
FINAL DRIVE: Hypoid bevel crown wheel and pinion. Overall ratios:
first 9.634, second 6.059, third 3.864, fourth 3.070, overdrive fourth
2.517, and reverse 8.656:1.
STEERING: Rack and pinion.
SUSPENSION: Front: independent by coil springs and wishbone-type
links, controlled by hydraulic dampers and anti roll bar. Rear: semi-elliptic
springs controlled by hydraulic dampers.
BRAKES: Hydraulic with servo assistance. 10.75 in (27.3 cm)
diameter discs at front. 10 in (25.4 cm) diameter drums at rear.
ROAD WHEELS: Cast aluminium alloy with chromed steel rims 175
HR-14 radial ply tyres.
ELECTRICAL: Twin 6-volt batteries; alternator; twin reversing
lamps; twin horns; multi-purpose lever on right-hand of steering column
controls headlamp flashers, dip-switch and self-cancelling direction
flashers; lever on the left-hand of steering column controls electric
windscreen washer, two speed windscreen wipers and overdrive. Front
compartment courtesy lamp; rear compartment courtesy lamp; electrically
heated rear window; cigar lighter; combined ignition/starter switch
incorporating steering column lock.
INSTRUMENTS: Speedometer with trip and total mileage recorder;
warning lamps to indicate flashers working, alternator not charging,
headlamp high beam position, and heated backlight on; electric impulse
tachometer; oil pressure, fuel and water temperature gauges.
COACHWORK: Twin-door, two-seater GT Coupe of all steel mono-construction;
adjustable seats with rake-adjusting squabs and head restraints; full-width
corded nylon seat facings with vinyl trim on non-wearing parts; occasional
rear seating; curved laminated tinted safety glass windscreen; fully
winding tinted door windows with hinged quarter lights; tinted rear
window; windscreen washer; wide, front hinged doors fitted with armrests
and anti-burst locks; flush fitting interior handles; front and rear
bumpers with over-riders; anti-dazzle driving mirror; fresh-air type
heater; face-level ventilation; map pocket; ashtray. Provision for
fitting radio. Factory fitted automatic front seat belts are supplied
at extra cost on all Home Market models.
EXPORT SPECIFICATION: To suit overseas market requirements
the following production alternatives to the above specification are
available at no extra cost. Right or left-hand steering, Km/h speedometer.
Lighting equipment to suit export requirements. Optional equipment
at extra cost: Radio.
