are the plans for MG at Longbridge?
Jeff Randall, the well known business journalist and broadcaster,
had a feature on MG on his programme on Sky News this evening.

With
the launch of the new MG6 sports saloon in 2011,
the first all new MG for 15 years will be back in
the UK. In an interview on Jeff Randall Live on
Sky News this evening, MG UK sales and marketing
director Guy Jones said "the Chinese see MG
as an iconic brand and want to give it a modern
future in worldwide, so clearly the UK and mainland
Europe are target markets". He added "MG
has always had a wide appeal in the UK, Europe and
worldwide with both young and older drivers".
Guy Jones said "the Chinese owners SAIC recognise
the importance of the |
engineering and design skills in the UK and have
invested in a UK based R&D and design team"
to create and develop new products. Since 2007 they
have invested £45m in the Longbridge plant
and have some 300 people in R&D and design and
a further 100 in production. |
