Further
heavy snow has hit parts of the UK, causing school
closures and travel disruption. But, why have the
harsh winter conditions arrived early this year?
BBC
weather presenter Susan Powell explains. More
An unusual horseshoe shaped jetstream is over the
UK allowing cold air to flood down from the north
across the UK. Usually the jetstream flows across
the Atlantic with warm moist air but at present
that is missing the UK and going further south into
mainland Europe. |
