Robert
Kerr gets an exceptional RV8
Robert is planning to add some additional instruments as part
of his rebuild of his MGBGTV8 - as he says "I should
have some of the additional instrumentation fitted in place
of fresh air vents . . . a clock, voltmeter and vacuum gauge.
I am after all a Control and Instrumentation Engineer!

Robert
Kerr in Lanarkshire has purchased an RV8. It's an
early car, Flame Red 0294, first registered in 1993
and previously run by Clive Wheatley as his personal
RV8 with a recorded mileage of only 6,010. Clive
had the car from 500 miles as the previous owner
was too tall. While Robert was home on leave Steve
Newton gave the car a thorough servicing with new
Pirrelli P6000 tyres, new battery, hydraulic fluid
changes, new rear wheel cylinders and an MOT. Robert
says "she drives like a dream and is now here
in Scotland ensconced in an Airflow tent in my garage."
The car can truly be described as an exceptional
one and I feel grateful to Clive for parting with
her. She certainly has a good home.
In
the meanwhile my Factory MGBGTV8, which was originally
Harvest Gold 0807 but now finished in Old English
White, is undergoing a body transplant with a new
Heritage shell. The work is being carried out by
Paul McFadden in Motherwell and preparation is now
complete for painting and then transfer of suspension
and everything else.
The
purchase of the RV8 has taken the pressure off this
project and ultimately the two cars shall complement
each other. Open top fun for fair weather days and
the GT for serious long hauls with luggage and spares.
My son has an 1800 MGBGT also so we can have |
triple
family outings. I have insured the RV8 with Peter
Best Insurance Services with three additional named
drivers including my wife and son. The insurance
includes agreed value and first salvage rights. |
