Lenham
MGBGTV8 Roadster has been sold!

The car was more a "two
crush two" than a two plus two, with very little luggage room - barely room
for a sandwich and a thermos!

Hallett provides an update saying " Unfortunatly my car is now hill climbing
in Milan. A very rich and enthusiastic Italian came over and offered me so much
money for it I am embarrssed to say i sold it. But I am in the market for a non
converted V8 with a proper boot | that
I can at least put a sandwich and a thermos flask in, the Lenham MGBGTV8 Roadster
didn't afford me such priviledges. So should you have any contacts for a good
MGBGTV8 then it would be much appreciated. (23.8.10) |

Hallett describes the sale to the Italian who came over to England to buy his
Lenham MGBGTV8 Roadster Signor Gianluca from Pisa flew in to Bournemouth
airport, complete with family and some squashy luggage, to pick up the MG to drive
back to Italy. I had repeatedly told him the car was more of a "two crush
two" than a "two plus two", nevertheless there they were and I
collected them and drove to my home in the little village of Curdridge, Hampshire.
He loved the car, crammed his family in, and said to me "Which way is it
to the stoning of the henges? My father told me I must go to see it before I return
back to Italy". I was hoping he would go north not south as the old V8 has
a tendency to overheat, but nevertheless off he went. The next phone call I had
from him was when he was in Paris and he was disappointed that the car needed
water. I did explain that they do have a tendency to be thirsty on that front;
any way he got home to Pisa and immediately took off to the Alps where he was
going on holiday. He e mailed some time later to tell me how excited he was with
the car and apparently had joined the very small Italian M.G club and that he
had the only V8 roadster there and it turned a lot of heads where ever he went.
I now regret selling it as I too liked the attention it brought - but he'd made
me an offer I couldn't refuse. C'est la vie. (24.8.10)
