The
Special Edition Classic MGBs were a series of one
off sports cars built in the 1980s in a collaboration
between British Leyland, MGOC and the Abingdon Classic
Car Company in Abingdon. The team who engineered
each car consisted almost entirely of former MG
employees. |
Each
MGB or MGBGT came in from the Factory, was stripped
and completely refitted with chrome bumpers and
a new interior. They were powered with either brand
new V8 engines or turbo charged B series engines
and effectively became a production run of brand
new MGs. It is believed that there were five full
SEC conversions: three turbocharged cars (one MGB
and two MGB GTs) and one MGBV8 and one MGBGTV8,
both black. The Black MGBGTV8 SEC conversion is
now up for sale. See the advert for full details
on the Car & Classic website for more details.
