reports say "George Osborne (the Chancellor
of the Exchequer) is planning to shelve next year's
planned 3p increase in fuel duty. The rise, due
to take place in January 2013, is to be postponed
after representations from Tory MPs. Some want to
abandon the indexed uel duty escalator which increases
the tax by the retail price index plus 1p a litre
every April until 2015", a measure introduced
by the last Labour government.
Let's hope the Chancellor's Autumn Statement will
contain an announcement of at least a delay in the
fuel duty rise until April 2013 and possibly longer.
As usual we will have a report on his statement
within an hour of his sitting down in the House
of Commons on 5th December. |
