RV8
front brake clips and pins are available again
The clips and
pins on the RV8 front brake caliper are unique. The very good
4-pot AP calipers were originally fitted to the 1980s Austin
Princess. The calipers used on the RV8 were modified with a
thick spacer inserted between the two halves of the caliper
body to clear the thicker ventilated disc used on an RV8, so
the RV8 pad retaining clips and pins are longer than the 'standard'
ones.

RV8
front brake clips and pins are available again from
Clive Wheatley as a new kit which is a complete
set for both calipers priced at only £13.95
including VAT, less than the price of the OE spares
available before. They have been made to an improved
spec with a zinc plating. |
Back
in October 2011 John Cumming launched a V8BB thread
saying "does anyone know where I can buy a
front brake pad securing clip and pin set for my
RV8 four pot callipers please? Two clips on my car
are broken. I have tried the usual suppliers without
success. Alternatively does anyone know if the same
clips were fitted to any other make and model of
car please?"
Several members suggested alternative suppliers
- Rimmer Brothers, Brake Warehouse and Brake Parts
International - but when the brake clips and pins
arrived they were not right for the RV8 as they
were not wide enough and the pins were too short.
Then we heard Clive Wheatley had found a manufacturer
for a batch of the clips and was working to get
a batch of new clips and pins for the RV8. Well
the good news is they are now available and at a
very attractive price for a complete set. More |
