Note from Richard Martin, Chairman of the Abingdon Works Centre
For the first time in a very long time, the MG Car Club is hosting a race meeting on our patch. The meeting is at Thruxton in Hampshire on Saturday July 30th and the Abingdon Works Centre would like to show it’s support by encouraging members to attend. The ‘Z’ Register, V8 Register and ‘T’ Register will also be attending. See the Thruxton facts page for information on where the circuit is and the layout. More

Parking
For those who pre-purchase a ticket by telephone, dedicated MG parking has been arranged on production of a parking permit available from me. Tickets can be obtained from the circuit on 01264 882200 at £8 plus £1.50 admin. The designated parking area is on the outside of the circuit (but inside the fence line) where you will have a good view of the start and finish line. Only MGs should be parked in this area, any other cars, non MGs or cars without a parking permit, will be parked outside of the circuit fence line which is only a short walk away with entry through a pedestrian gate. Once you have purchased your ticket, drop me an email and I’ll forward a parking permit to you.

Welcome centre
A marquee inside the paddock is being used for prize giving and MG Car Club hospitality – tea coffee and biscuits – and this can be reached via the pedestrian tunnel under the circuit. Prize giving for the races will be approximately 30 minutes after the end of each race.

Circuit tour
The tour will be arranged for lunchtime (approx 12.50pm – 13.35pm) and all participants will be required to sign on and take their cars via the vehicle tunnel under the circuit to the paddock assembly area approximately 30 minutes before the lunch break as directed. Upon completion the cars will return to their parking slot on the outside of the circuit. Numbers are likely to be limited, so ensure you register your interest in good time. The members of the ‘Z’ Register will arrange the signing procedure.

Grandstands
Sadly, we could not get these provided free, the Club did try!, but seats can be purchased on the day if required.

Racing
There is a 9-race programme scheduled - see details with practice during the morning (approx 9am – 11.20am) and racing during the afternoon (approx 11.50am – 17.55pm).

If you’d like a grand day out, why not order your ticket and come along and join us?
