What
battery for the RV8?

a useful recommendation for a replacement battery for the RV8 in a response to
a query raised in a V8 Bulletin Board posting from Rob Collier.

original battery fitted to the RV8 was an 063S with a cold cranking capacity of
405amps. The RV8 Parts List shows the battery as part number YED 100360. The battery
fixing is a plate clamping a flange along the base of the battery to the battery
compartment floor.
Ray Ellis indicated "if I were buying a new
battery now I would go for the Bosch Silver Plus 063 heavy duty car battery with
a 5 year guarantee, Bosch din 55240152 and short code S5001, capacity 52 AH and
cold cranking capacity 520amps". It also comes with a handle and is about
£60 to £67 including VAT. It is a sealed, maintenance free battery.
The size is 207mm L, 175mm W and 175mm H.
