Track
day downunder
Franck Morand (Mirage 0158) from Thailand and Clermont-Ferrand
in France reports he recently enjoyed a track day at Wakefield during
a visit to Sydney, Australia. (Nov 04)

Franck Morand has a broad grin as he goes out for
another session in the Porsche Turbo4x4
I was invited for a track day at Wakefield Raceway just outside
Sydney, just two days after my birthday. Fantastic gift from my
Australian friends. I drove a Lotus Elise and had a go with a locally
made Seven, but spent most of the day at the wheel of my friend's
Porsche Turbo 4 x 4, with a specially tuned engine (400 hp plus)
and semi slick tyres. Terrific ! The grip was simply phenomenal,
and the "kick in the buttocks" with the turbo is unbelievable.
The V8 will feel like a wheelbarrow afterwards. But don't worry,
I still love my MG, and will do so for ever.
