V8 Register - MG Car Club

This wonderful book covers the MGB model and all its variants and developments from the creation of the MGB Roadster - one of the most well known classic English sportscars - then the introduction of the MGBGT, through to the MGC, MGBGTV8, the rubber bumpered cars and finally the renaissance of the MG marque with the launch of the MG RV8. Julien Lombard is an automobile journalist with a keen eye for the details that make the history of this model so interesting.

His section on the publicity material for the MGB is wonderful - for many of us it brings back memories of a far less complicated age with strap lines like "Standard equipment on every 1975 MGB. 50 years of thundering legends" or "You can do it in an MGB" - and some of us did! But the most memorable line was surely "Some day you will settle down with a nice sensible girl, a nice sensible house and a nice sensible family saloon . . . . some day." Come to think of it some 35 years later I still hear that line spoken occasionally as I drive off in the V8!
