Report of a phone call scam

Update on phone call scam
Andrew Torode has contacted us to say the phone call scam reported on this website last week is "an urban myth" - see the report on the ICSTIS website which explains this. ICSTIS is the UK premium rate services regulator. (15.4.06)

The ICSTIS report confirms the £15 charge is not possible as the maximum call charge in the UK is £1.50 per minute. You can see the report at:

Original report of the phone call scam
If you receive a card through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) saying that they have a parcel awaiting delivery
instructions and can you contact them on 0906 6611911, DO NOT call the number as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.
If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 0207 239 6655 or ICTIS at http://www.icstis.org.uk or your local trading standards office.
