DVLA photocard licence explained?
Mike Russell says "I don't see any problem with the codes on the card, apart from the font size, as they are all explained quite clearly in the accompanying manual, DVLA leaflet INS57PW, which comes with licence". The leaflet he refers to is available online and is dated 9/08 so seems to have been updated at about the time the Daily Mail article was published. You can download a copy of the leaflet from the DVLA website. INS57PW

Comment: clearly it is not reasonable to expect a holder of a DVLA photocard licence, which is credit card sized and designed to be carried in a wallet of handbag, to have to consult a leaflet some 10 years after the issue of the card to be able to understand the significance of the photocard renewal subtleties which are not explained on the face of the card. If you do have a photocard licence or get one, do take note of leaflet INS57PW.
