What is two pack epoxy primer?
In his 18th Rebuild Report from Barrie Jones on the comprehensive rebuild he is carrying out on the MGBGTV8 he bought on eBay in 2008, he mentioned using two pack epoxy primer. Here he provides a brief note on this material and its use in rebuilds. (20.2.09)

The two-pack epoxy primer he recommends is made by Lechler and available from many motor factors. It inhibits rust, is totally inert, and clings well to bare metal including de-rusted metal. One coat is usually sufficient, and it dries very quickly. It also accepts any primer, whether two-pack, water based or cellulose.
If you lightly key it (roughen the surface with approx 400 grade wet and dry), then it will readily accept filler without reacting to it.

It is available in two colours - red oxide or grey oxide.
The hardener comes in a 1 litre can and the primer in 2 or 4 litres. You need 2 parts of primer to one part of hardener. It is suitable for hand brushing or spraying.
If you brush it on, then use in a well-ventilated area, but if you spray it on, then you must use a good quality mask.
