Looking back at the Car Prices sheets issued by MG for their MGBGTV8 and MGBGT models, we have traced four sheets - February and March 1974 above and December 1974 and March 1975. The table and chart below have been created using that Car Prices information. To get a comparative price for the MGBGT model we have added the items that were standard on the V8 model.
The table and chart show how MGBGTV8 prices moved up by 33% ( February 1974 to March 1975) compared with MGBGTs by 37%. The Suez Crisis hit sales of MGBGTV8s and other large engined cars badly so it looks as if MG used a lower price increase as an attempt to attract V8 sales at that difficult time.
