Bob Shilton

Sad news I'm afraid ... we learn from Rob Shilton, Bob's son, that Bob died on Friday. Bob had fought cancer for the last eight years and never gave up, a terrific guy. Bob and his V8 Roadster, which he built himself, was at several V8 gatherings last year and he enjoyed immensely the whole exercise of gifting the White Gold RV8 to his two daughters, Joanne and Michelle, last Christmas. (14.2.08) More Rob has confirmed the funeral will be at Chelmsford Crematorium on Thursday next week at 11.45am with a reception afterwards. Rob immediately said that they would very much like Bob's MG chums to come and also to have some MGs, preferably V8s, in attendance. Rob won't be able to go in his father's V8 MGB as it's SORNED but Joanne and Michelle will probably use their RV8. Rob confirmed that he would certainly like Bob's passing on the website and mention that V8 Register members who knew Bob would be very welcome at the funeral service. Stuart Middlemiss says "the last email I had from Bob expressed enthusiasm for the V8 Burblers events this year, especially as his daughters could come in their RV8, and he also talked about some work he'd planned to do on his V8 Roadster before the summer season ... so sad".
