Aviator Hotel at Sywell aerodrome in Northamptionshire was the base for the four day V8 Tour 2007 - a Saunter in the Shires. The hotel is an art deco building that was the clubhouse for the aero club started in 1928 and later the RAF officers' mess in the thirties. The V8 Dinner was held in the Cirrus room overlooking the landing strip that attracts a wonderful selection of vintage aircraft.

Tony and Sylvia Lake organised the popular four day event packed with interesting places to visit and events.

Eva Mass-Doyle was over with Allan Doyle from Germany in their MGBGTV8 via a holiday in France.

Rob Lewis, larger than life and as cheerful as ever, was enjoying the evening at the V8 Dinner on Saturday.

David and Christine Biddle joined the V8 Tour 2007 for the day on Saturday enjoying lunch in the attractive town of Olney and then a fascinating guided tour of Bletchley Park and the Enigma code breaking facilities.

A tour of the museum at Sywell aerodrome with a wealth of information on the history of the airfield and the activities over the years is a fascinating experience.
Report on V8 Tour 2007

Ron and Valery Gammons flew in with their Leopard Moths. Ian Polley also flew up from White Waltham via three aerodromes in Suffolk. The Moths are tied down for the night with their cockpit weather covers on.

Sywell is a remarkable aerodrome with well maintained and original buildings of the late 1920s and 1930s and a neatly mown grass airfield. The owners have made a major investment in refurbishing the original hangers and club buildings together with the paved areas.

Bar and restaurant building is in the 1930s art deco style. The grass terrace looks out onto the airfield.

Al and Fiona Barnett were on the V8 Tour in their new ex David Boniface RV8 reimported from Japan.

Mike and Maria Taylor from Lincolshire are regulars on the annual V8 Tours in their V8 Roadster which looks good in the RV8 colour, White Gold.
