Loire Tour 2013 - Now for something completely different! During discussions at this year's Welsh Tour, Robert and Stella Crowson made a generous offer to organise the V8 Autumn Tour in 2013. They proposed that it be held in the Loire Valley. To justify the greater travelling time, not least due the slight obstruction presented by the Channel, the tour would be over 5-6 days rather than the customary long weekend. It would take place at the end of September, possibly spilling into October. The V8 Register committee agreed that this was an exciting prospect with the lure of better weather, lovely scenery, good value hotels, fine food and beautiful chateaux - so the wheels are being set in motion! Bob Owen, who coordinates the V8 Tours, says "the longer duration of this tour means that participants will need to allocate it "holiday time", unlike earlier tours which could be squeezed into a weekend. And of course, regrettably, the price will also be higher, around £1,000 plus the ferry crossings in total compared to the UK long weekend at around half that. Consequently we can't rely on the usual suspects and the typical field of around 25 cars. So it would be very helpful if potential entrants could register an expression of interest by contacting me by email or telephone or you could post a message on the Bulletin Board. An expression of interest does not commit you in any way. Conversely, the tour will go ahead even if the entry is far fewer than usual, so you can be confident that you won't miss out by making a commitment when that stage comes in the spring of 2013.
