| Back V8 Column for March 2003published in Safety Fast!
This month we have news of the final plans for the
V8 25th Anniversary 2003 with its highlight on a week of events
starting on Sunday 15th June, and news of the availability of the
new Omnibus V8 Workshop Notes CD.
The V8 Register 25th Anniversary Year 2003 is underway and
full details are available on the V8 website - just click the Rolling
V8 Calendar link on the V8 website at www.v8register.net
for the date and location of each event, and contact details. The
focus of the celebrations is on a programme of events in the week
before the Club's annual International MG Weekend meeting at Silverstone
(Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd June 2003) starting with a talk by David
Bishop and John Yea on the "RV8 - concept, development and
production of a modern classic" on Sunday 15th June 2003.
On Friday 20th June at the start of the weekend there is a V8
Dinner at the BRDC Clubhouse at Silverstone - many members have
already indicated they will be there, so early booking is recommended
              with Lesley Smith at lesleysmith@fosterwyatt.com
or on 0208 392 9434. At the time these notes were compiled, final
details of the pricing had still to be settled but full details
will be on the V8 Website - for those without access to the web,
just call, fax (0208 392 9673) or write to Victor Smith for a copy
of the Rolling V8 Calendar and information on the V8 Dinner.

At last the Omnibus V8 Workshop
Notes CD has been completed and will available from
April. It has updates of the whole series of eight volumes, including
the original volumes printed as spiral bound A5 books. A copy of
the current working draft of Volume 8 is included on the CD, all
in Word and PDF formats. A free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader is
included for reading the PDF files which solve the pagination difficulties
a very few members have suffered with Word files and despotic printer
drivers! The CDs are available for £25.00 (UK) and £30.00
(overseas) sent by first class post or airmail - all cheques payable
to "V8 Register - MG Car Club" and sent to Victor
              Smith. There is a significant
 | discount for members who have previously purchased
the later notes on CD - see the V8 Website for details or contact
Victor Smith. Copies of the RV8
Workshop Notes CD with six volumes are available at £20.00
(UK) and £25.00 (overseas), again in Word and PDF formats
and a discount for update discs. See the V8 Website for details
of the suggested overseas payment method to minimise transaction
costs. Full details of the contents of both series are published
on the V8 Website and regularly updated so you can download a copy
              - see V8NOTES and RV8NOTES.

The strong flow of new registrations over the last six months
has resulted in our deciding to discontinue publishing them in the
monthly V8 Column to release space for articles and workshop notes.
It has been a tradition to welcome new members so they will be included
in the periodic four page V8 Newsletters in this magazine and published
on a new webpage on the V8
              Website.

In the April issue next month we have a four page V8 Newsletter
with full details of the V8 25th Anniversary programme, news
of the V8 Curry Evening in February and several useful workshop
notes which have come in from contributors over recent months including
one with the findings from a survey of members on replacement tyres
for the RV8. Even with low mileage RV8s, members have to face the
              replacement decision now.
