The
July 2007 issue of Safety Fast! will be a major turning point
for our Club as we will get back full editorial and production
control of the Club magazine following the termination of the
seriously expensive publishing arrangements with a commercial
motor magazine group. The editorial workload has been taken
on by John Day, John James and Andy Knott who are working like
beavers on this project and are already producing some very
good improvements to the magazine even before the launch. The
content is improving, the number of pages is increasing and
useful advertising is also returning, so members will again
be able to enjoy a magazine with the style and interest Safety
Fast! has traditionally provided.
John Day says "the decision to go with with Nick Hine
as our new publisher is turning out to be a good choice. Nick's
company is modern, enthusiastic and full of new ideas and useful
contacts - including the good contacts with advertisers which
are essential to the commercial success of our new Club magazine.
Andy Knott, |

who is working very hard as editor, clearly enjoys producing
a good quality Club magazine".
However there are critics of the termination of the arrangements
with Octane Media who may not have appreciated just how costly
the contract was proving and that it was simply an unsustainable
financial burden.
So those who value what the new editorial team is doing and
the energy they are putting into it need to give them support
and encouragement. Editing a magazine can be a lonely business
so feedback and encouragement are essential - something which
should be natural in a friendly members' motor club. So do let
them have your comments and support as they will value your
views. (9.6.07) |
