What does the RV8 Workshop Notes series
aim to do?
The Notes are contributed by members based on their
experiences with maintaining their MG RV8s or finding spares
and services. The series started in 1999 to help members maintain
their MG RV8, a limited production model, and source spares.
Bryan Ditchman was the first editor of the series and now
Brian Moyse has taken over the role of editing the series
and encouraging contributions from members of the V8 Register.
Many individual notes have been published in the V8 Register
monthly column in Safety Fast! but as the number
of notes grew rapidly, the series was published as individual
volumes. Today contributions are increasingly coming via the
Bulletin Board on the V8 Website and the series is now well
into Volume 6.
For new RV8 members of the V8 Register, do note that
the RV8 Workshop Notes series desribed above is not
the same as the Factory produced RV8 Repair Manual AKM7153
which members will almost certainly want to obtain as a basic
document. Contact Clive Wheatley for copies - his contacts
are in the V8LIFELINE, just click the "V8 specialists"
button above. The RV8 Workshop Notes series is worth reading
alongside the RV8 Repair Manual!
The encouraging feedback from RV8 enthusiasts on the new
series of workshop notes has shown the notes are proving very
useful for RV8 owners. Probably the greatest success has been
tracing a vital spares item for the MG RV8, the replacement
clutch slave cylinder, following an alarming report from
the late Ian Lloyd that it was apparently no longer available.
However research by the V8 Register found the correct replacement
part in another parts list! That part number is now identified
in Note 50 of the first volume of the RV8 Workshop Notes series.
