Details
of DEV2 provided in the advert
Project Adder was one of the first programmes embarked upon
by Rover Special Products (RSP) in 1990, subsequently to become
the new MG RV8. This car, known as DEV2, was the second development
car to be built. It was built by Mark Gamble of BMH using a new
Heritage MGB shell and fitted with a 3.9 injection engine supplied
by Land Rover. Engineering and feasibility studies were carried
out on this car including engine installation, suspension assessment
etc. Following this the vehicle had very little use until the project
was approved in July 1991. In the Autumn of that year it was taken
to Scandinavia for cold climate testing. and upon its return was
used for exhaust and cooling development.
In
mid-2012 the car had covered just over 26,000 miles and was in good
condition. It has a 3.9 V8 with 5 speed box with uprated suspension
and brakes. Apart from its obvious historic importance it is a very
fast usable car. It may look like an ordinary MGB apart from its
RV8 bonnet and prototype styled front end, but its performance is
far from ordinary.
In an advert on the Car & Classic website the advertiser said
"I have owned this car twice. I first purchased it in January
1999 and sold it to a friend of mine in August 2003. In many ways
I wished I had not sold it and in December 2008 I bought it back
from him. As it gets very little use now I have decided to offer
it up for sale again. It comes with a comprehensive history file
and documents relating to its ownership by BMH and Rover Group.
It is well documented in many books including 'MG V8 Twenty-one
years on' by David Knowles."
