Replacing a yellow brake fluid warning label
Richard Wood posted a V8BB note saying he had been cleaning the engine bay of his RV8 and noticed that 18 years of brake fluid has not been too kind to the "little yellow flexible plastic warning label" that sits under the brake fluid filler cap which is on top of the brake fluid reservoirircon recharge on an RV8. He had tried to get a replacement from the usual RV8 spares suppliers - Clive Wheatley mgv8sparts, B&G, Rimmers and by surfing the net - but without success so far. The closest thing he could get is from a kit car manufacturer. He asked if anyone knew of a source of the labels or if anyone had a not too damaged one that they could scan and then reproduce. (Jul 13)

Richard later reported he had traced a supplier and ordered the new part - YBFWL "Brake Reservoir Tag" part number SMB30 - from Mini Sport Ltd a specialist supplier of Mini parts and accessories which is located in Burnley in Lancashire. He mentioned he has no affiliation to this company and can only recommend them as a pleased customer.

The pack contains a Brake Reservoir Tag which is exactly the same as the one that was on his car which he thought was original. Given the "corporate parts bin raiding" that occurred when the cars were built it was very likely it would have been a part used elsewhere. When the part arrived he found it was packaged with other "Mini" labels which he did not need - you also get an Asbestos Warning Label and a Headlight Aim Label - all for £9.41. The contact details for Mini Sport are: sales@minisport.com or 01282 778731 and their website is at www.minisport.com Mini Sport can supply the part to the UK and overseas.
