Replacing an RV8 radiator cover
The plastic radiator cover often breaks at the offside mounting point. Here Peter Garton describes his experience with the problem and how he fitted an upgraded replacement.. (Apr 12)

The original RV8 radiator blanking panel is, in fact, quite fragile and tends to fracture around the mounting bolts at the top. This is easily caused, for example, by leaning on the cover when working in the engine bay. In my case I discovered a hairline crack at the top left hand mounting bolt (on the offside) and decided to improve the cover by using the alternative


superior one supplied by Clive Wheatley, which is a sort of glass fibre composite.

As one can see from the photos, the offside edge has had to be trimmed because of the oil filter unit which has been mounted further forwards by the MGOC Workshops when they installed the EPAS system on my RV8.
