RV8 rear window zip Peter Wallis sought help on the
V8BB with sticking zip and some useful tips followed. (Mar

Peter Wallis
said "The zip on my rear window was becoming increasingly difficult to pull
round and '£' thoughts were beginning to appear - however I carefully sprayed
WD40 from the outside and it has once more become a very easy one handed job!"
Peter
Varley was concerned about overspray on the hood and Nigel Ricardo noted "my
zip was very stiff when I bought my car, I don't think the window has been unzipped
and the hood down for years. The first time I tried to unzip the window the tag
on the zip came off in my hand and now has a keyring in its place. When I eventually
got the window undone I put Vaseline on the zip and now it runs quite freely.
As we are talking about hoods here, my hood and half tonneau are Blue. Was this
a factory option?" Peter | responded
saying "Vaseline sounds good but have you heard how effective hair serum
can be - the problem with both as opposed to WD40 is that they dry out!"
Peter
Benns then provided a tip which probably covered those concerns - "WD40
spray is great but try the WD40 Pen. When you press it along the Zip you get just
enough to lubricate the mechanism without overspray .I attached a camera strap
to the Zipper also to make it easier to open the window and works well".
The
new WD-40 Magic Pen is the quick, easy and convenient way to use WD-40 exactly
where you want it. Extremely easy to use, the Magic Pen will help you solve a
multitude of problems in the home or garden. Website
