Caution with the RV8 hood catches
Clive Wheatley was returning from the Historic Le Mans and became aware the windscreen
frame toggle catches securing the front rail of the hood were showing signs of
coming loose! (Jul 08) Clive
Wheatley hung on to the hood frame to stop it taking off like an umbrella in a
gale and pulled up rapidly on the hard shoulder of the M40. What he found provides
a very useful caution for fellow RV8 enthusiasts. The two bolts with their dome
headed nuts on each catch had come loose so the catch no longer held the front
hood frame down firmly. Clive recommends you apply a smear of Loctite
to the threads and tighten them up. |
