Dave noted
that the information on the recall note was "news
to me so maybe other members are not aware of the information
either". RV8s VIN numbers 0327 to 1938 were subject
to a recall in Japan on 24th April 1996 for the following
reasons:
1. Weak
upper front suspension arm bolt might be subject to cracking
and needs replacing with a stronger bolt. We are checking whether
a replacement
part was supplied by MG Rover.
2. Bolt fastening rear leaf spring may be insufficiently tightened
with the possibilty of the leaf spring detaching and should
be tightened to the recommended torque of 40Nm.
Dave added "just thought you might like to check your
RV8" and that details of the recall are on the net
at the website of the Japanese Automobile Service Promotion
Association.
