MG ZT 260
V8 - not for the faint-hearted driven hard, but it is a wonderfully
relaxing car for drivers with a smooth style. (Photo: MG Rover)
Philip Baskerville
(Starlight Silver 0399) has registered his MG ZT-T 260 V8 with us
and sent in an account of what he describes as "a wonderful
introduction to MG V8 Motoring, second only to my 1983 Talbot Sunbeam
Lotus". (4.3.06)

Eventful life with an MG ZT-T 260 V8
Week two
Engine
warning light comes on, along with a misfire. Later determined
to be a faulty spark plug.
Week three
Dash light comes on, which suggests either my airbags (or me)
were in immediate danger. Faulty harness connection.
Week four
Motorway driving in misty rain; engine cutting out completely
while driving at speed on motorway. No dash lights show. Turned
out design fault with fuel injection intake.
Week five
Engine misfire resulting in abandoning car at road side and calling
for recovery. Car then catches fire. Fire brigade close main A
road.
Three months later have car back :-)
Week 21
Rear wheel blow out. Wheel repair system unservicable (tyre is
off rim). RAC recovovery took six hours.
Not withstanding all that, I love the beast:-).
Cheers Phil
