Display of MGV8s on the Market Place at Abingdon
As part of the events being held to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the MGBGTV8 in August 1973 and the 30th Anniversary of the start of production and sales of the MG RV8 in 1993, a display of MGV8s is being arranged on the Market Place in the busy centre of Abingdon on Saturday morning 19th August 2023. The available parking spaces for the MGV8 Display Area on the Market Place are limited so a booking system is necessary. Members whose booking has been accepted by the V8 Register will be sent a free MGV8 Display Area Access Pass which they will need to have ready to show to marshals at the entry checkpoint to the MGV8 Display Area. This should simplify checking by the marshals and avoid traffic congestion on a busy Saturday morning In Abingdon.

Timing
The checkpoint for access to the MGV8 Display Area for parking will be open from 10.00am only for MGV8s with an MGV8 Display Area Access Pass. All MGV8s parked on the Market Place will need to leave the Market Place from 12.00 noon so the area can be cleared by the marshals by not later than 12.30am when it is to be returned as a tidy area to the Town Council. Leaving from 12.00 noon will give time for members who have booked a buffet lunch at 1.00pm at the Dog House pub to the west of Abingdon to make the journey there and park up in the car park opposite the pub. As Saturday can be a popular day at that pub it's recommended you do not delay getting there promptly to be able to park before the car park may become busy.

How do I book a parking space in the MGV8 Display Area on the Market Place in Abingdon on Saturday morning 19th August 2023?
To qualify for a free parking space for an MGV8 in the MGV8 Display Area on the Market Place you will need to be a V8 Register member and current member of the MG Car Club. There are only a limited number of parking places in the MGV8 Display Area. We need details of the MGV8 you intend having on display in the MGV8 Display Area and also details of your current MG Car Club membership number. Your data will be sent automatically to the V8 Webmaster who will check your information. Members whose booking has been accepted by the V8 Register will be sent a free MGV8 Display Area Access Pass which they will need to have on their MGV8 for checking by a marshal at the entry checkpoint to the MGV8 Display Area.

Parking arrangements on the Market Place
Only MGV8s with an MGV8 Display Area Access Pass will be allowed entry at the checkpoint. When parking on the MGV8 Display Area it is essential cars are parked so they do not obstruct the pedestrian walkways that cross the Market Place or the public seating. Marshals will direct you where to park up.
