V8 classics featured in the classic car magazine racks
Seeing the local newsagent's rack showing the latest issues of MG Enthusiast and Classic & Sports Car magazine both featuring V8 classics the V8 Webmaster was quite excited and picked up copies to look a little closer. But what did he find?

The August 2025 issue of MG Enthusiast is a good read, well worth getting a copy.

The "Devilish V8" featured in the latest issue of MG Enthusiast is the MGBGTV8 Glacier White 0468 owned by Joe Byrne in Ireland was registered with the V8 Register many years ago. It has an interesting story. The "Great V8s" feature on the cover of the latest issue of Classic & Sports Car magazine mentions"10 great homegrown British V8s that celebrate the muscle and music of eight cylinders" - picked it up with an eager expectation of seeing the MGBGTv8 featured there. But oh no - what a disappointment!
The "Devilish V8" featured in an interesting 6 page piece in the latest issue of MG Enthusiast is the MGBGTV8 Glacier White 0468 owned by Joe Byrne in Ireland which was registered with the V8 Register many years ago. The MG Factory production records show it went through paint finishing on 17th August 1973 and was dispatched to Stewart & Arden in Barnes in Southwest London on 12th September. The 6 page article by David Mullen mentions Brendan Dempsey, a Dublin motor trader and amateur racer, wanted one and immediately got in touch with his friend Gerry Marshall, another racer and motor trader. Although Marshall Wingfield in North London didn't have one in stock Gerry promptly managed to get the one from Stewart & Arden. It was later sold by Joe in 1977 but remarkably reappeared in 1987 when he was able to buy it back again and has it still today. In the meantime after Joe's sale in 1977 the V8 Database records show it had been owned by an MG Car Club member in South Yorkshire for some time with the registration plate TLM 704M before being changed to "666 TIK" when it went back to Dublin!.
