Lunch at Silverstone in the BRDC clubhouse

Lunch to celebrate the 95th Anniversary of the MG Car Club
Saturday 7th June 2025

MG Car Club
It all began with a letter from Roy Marsh published in The Light Car magazine on 5th September 1930 headed "Why not an MG Club?". Subsequently an announcement was made in that magazine of an inaugural rally on 12th October for the purpose of bringing the Club into being. Then a group of over thirty enthusiasts with their MGs met on 12th October 1930 at the Roebuck Hotel near Stevenage on the Great North Road in Hertfordshire. After some discussion the MG Car Club was formally constituted and John Thornley was enthusiastically voted the Secretary and a committee elected - then everyone sat down for an overdue tea!

V8 25th Anniversary Dinner at the BRDC Clubhouse
The anniversary of the formation of the V8 Register on 8th October 1978 was celebrated at a dinner held in the BRDC Clubhouse in June 2003. It was a wonderful venue for a well attended anniversary V8 Dinner. More

The 95th Anniversary Lunch has been arranged by Ron Gammons, an MG Car Club Vice President, with the support of his fellow Vice Presidents. The venue is the impressive British Racing Drivers' Clubhouse building at Silverstone with dining rooms that have panoramic views over the heart of the Circuit - Woodcote Corner and the Luffield Complex.

The dining room booked for the Club lunch has only 100 places so prompt booking will be necessary by MG Car Club Members to secure their place and for a guest. Details of the lunch including the timing and the booking arrangements will follow in an advert to be released inside the March 2025 issue of Safety Fast! magazine - so look out for that advert in your copy of the magazine. Note, there is only up to two tickets for each booking made by a current MG Car Club member. Tickets for this special lunch event will be £55.00 per person.
